The architectural, industrial and social heritage of the historic linen village of Sion Mills will be on show this weekend for European Heritage Open Days. The focal point for the weekend will be the restored Sion Stables with demonstrations in the Heritage Education Centre of traditional methods of spinning plus an exhibition of heritage linen products and modern textile arts. The Museum at Sion Stables tells the story of this historic linen village founded in 1835 on the banks of the River Mourne. Free guided walking tours will start from Sion Stables at 11:00 and 14:00 on the Saturday and at 14.00 on the Sunday. Restaurant 1861 at Sion Stables will operate as normal but booking is recommended.
